Photos of the revolution

This video is a moving tribute that shows various photos that were taken during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. In the initial photos you can see the joy of the protesters and freedom fighters when they rose up against the communist tyranny. They are replaced by photos of the destruction of Budapest. The fighting was incredibly intense in the city. Basically, untrained Hungarian freedom fighters took on the most powerful military nation in the world at the time. Local police and Hungarian military joined the side of the freedom fighters and supplied them with arms and ammunition. 2,000 Russian tanks entered the city and crushed the revolution.
