Hungarian-Americans remember

These Hungarian-Americans from Ohio give a first-hand account of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. This report was recorded during the 50th anniversary of the revolution back in 2006. The report also highlights the Hungarian Heritage Museum in downtown Cleveland. There are 1,500,000 people in the United States with Hungarian ancestry.

The first Hungarian settled in the state of Wisconsin in 1840 according to US records. The vast majority of Hungarians settled in the United States in 1849 after the failed Hungarian Revolution of that year. The end of the Second World War and the aftermath of the revolution in 1956 saw the two other large migrations of Hungarians to the United States.
