Rare footage!

A group of researchers managed to put this 15 minutes of film footage together about the first day (Oct. 23) of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Most of the footage is shot by amateur filmmakers that shows that the revolution started out as peaceful demonstrations by the university students of Budapest. It is a well-known fact that the communist regime enforces shot on the crowd first. The revolution then turned violent as Hungarian freedom fighters armed themselves with guns and Molotov cocktails. The Hungarian Revolution was crushed on November 4 by the Soviet Army. Hungarians called on the free West to send help and support but their cries fell on deaf ears. This footage is quite remarkable and many have not seen it before. Video is in the Hungarian language.
