SOS

Free Hungarian radio during the last moments of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 frantically called for help from the free Western nations of the world. This was the last known radio call for help to the free world from inside the iron curtain. "People of the world, help us!", "SOS", "In the name of freedom, help us!", were some of the cries before this last broadcast ended. On November 4, 1956, the Soviets launched a full scale attack on Budapest to crush the revolution. Hungarian freedom fighters continued to fight up until the very last minutes. There were still small pockets of resistance around the country up until November, 10, 1956.
