Infamous quote

"My personal influence in the Revolutionary Governing Council is such that the dictatorship of the proletariat is firmly established, since the masses are backing me."

Hungarian communist leader Béla Kun tells Lenin after the Hungarian Soviet Republic was established on March 21, 1919. The Soviet Republic eventually fell on August 1, 1919 after 133 days in existence. The Hungarian Soviet Republic was the forerunner to the communist People's Republic of Hungary (1949-1989). It was just as repressive and brutal as the People's Republic if not more.

Béla Kun speaks to Hungarian workers in 1919. Kun was executed in a Soviet Gulag in August of 1938.
