RT (Russia Today) news anchor Liz Wahl quit on a live air broadcast recently. She said that she could no longer be "part of a network that whitewashes the actions of (Russian President) Putin." Mrs. Wahl has Hungarian grandparents who escaped from Soviet forces during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. The recent events in the Ukraine have had a personal impact on her. Her resignation has generated a lot of attention on the internet as well as praise from many.
The invasion of the Crimea region in the Ukraine by Russian forces has
drawn much protest and condemnation from the international community.
Hungarians remember when they were invaded by Russian (Soviet) forces in
1956, so there is some sympathy with the Ukrainians in light of recent
events.
It seems that Liz Wahl had enough of the RT network over the recent crisis in the Ukraine. She had to report that what President Putin was doing in the Ukraine was justified. RT news network is an alternative to the controlled western mainstream media. It was established in 2005 by the Russian government to improve Russia's image abroad. Funny enough, much of what you hear on RT news is more truthful than the globalist-friendly mainstream media.
