Funérailles is a collection of piano pieces written by the legendary Hungarian composer and pianist Franz Liszt. It was written in memoriam of the failed Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and the Hungarians who had died fighting for the independence of Hungary. It was specifically written as a tribute for three of Liszt's friends who had fought or died in the revolution. These friends were Prince Felix Lichnowsky, Count László Teleki and the Hungarian Prime Minister, Count Lajos Batthyány. Funerailles was written in October 1849 after the Hungarian Revolution was crushed by the Hapsburgs.
