Rongyos Gárda commemoration

Rongyos Gárda members pose for a picture in 1921. They defended Hungary's territorial sovereignty.

The Rongyos Gárda, known as the "Ragged Guards" in English, were a Hungarian non-regular paramilitary set up in 1921. They were a mix of veterans from World War One and citizens (militia). They defended the Hungarian territory around the city of Sopron after the Treaty of Trianon (1920). The Austrians wanted to seize that part of Hungary after WW1. The area was a mix of Hungarians and German-speakers.

Socialists sink to new lows

Hungarian voters are extremely disenchanted with the Hungarian Socialist Party

The recent support for the Hungarian Socialist Party (Magyar Szocialista Párt/MSZP) is is so low that they are literally on their knees. No joke! The latest opinion polls show that there is extremely low support for the socialists. This has the socialist party and their leadership extremely worried. The Hungarian people have never forgiven the socialists and their former leader, Ferenc Gyurcsány. He was the leader of the socialist party and the Prime Minister of Hungary from 2004 to 2009. In March of 2009, Gyurcsány resigned as prime minister. Sinking public support and the poor performance of his government led him to resign. In 2010, the socialists were crushed in the election.

Blast from the past!

German explosive experts detonated the remains of a 550-pound (250 kg.) World War II bomb the other day. The American bomb was found by a construction crew in Munich on Tuesday evening. The crew was demolishing an old nightclub in the centre of the city in the Schwabing district. The explosion of the bomb was quite spectacular and generated a lot of interest internationally.

EU = USSR (Repost)

Editor's Note: The similarities noted by Mr. Bukovsky are actually pretty scary. Do we really want to erect another Soviet Union?

Learn the truth about the European Union from a survivor of the Soviet Union. In his presentation in this YouTube video, Mr. Vladimir Bukovsky mentions striking similarities between the EU and the USSR. He spent years of horror in Soviet camps for sticking up for human rights.

Hooters comes to Hungary

The well-known American restaurant chain Hooters is now in Hungary. Hooters finally opened up one of their restaurants in Budapest. The restaurant is known for it young, beautiful and scantly clad waitresses and hostesses. News of Hooters wanting to open locations in Hungary only came a few months ago. The restaurant seems to be extremely popular with male clientele for obvious reasons.

Negro candy shocks some...

A bag of Hungarian Negro candy.

To begin with, Hungarian Negro candy has nothing to do with racism or insulting black or African people. Negro candy, pronounced as “NAY-GROW”, has been produced for decades in Hungary. Since 1980, the candy has been produced by the company Győri Keksz. Győri is now owned by France's Danone group, which still continues to manufacture the popular candy. This type of candy is also produced in Serbia under the same name. Many Hungarians love to eat this candy, my own grandmother used to eat bags of Negro while reading her daily newspaper in her old age.

Controversial anniversary

The Hungarian Guard (Magyar Gárda), celebrated its fifth anniversary this weekend at the Hősök tere (Heroes Square) in downtown Budapest. There was an assembly of about 2,000 guard members and supporters that attended the event. This YouTube video report by the liberal Hungarian media outlet ATV, backed up the 2,000 figure. There were various speeches given by those who organized the event. Jobbik political leader Gábor Vona and other nationalist group leaders gave speeches about the current globalist threats facing Hungary.

Hungarian archer sets record!

Hungarian archer József Mónus sets a new world record at an archery tournament

Renown Hungarian long distance archer József Mónus, set a new world record at an international archery tournament in Ergun city in Inner Mongolia, China. Mónus, with his own homemade bow and arrows, smashed all other attempts by over 145 meters, including his own personal best from two years ago. In 2010, Mónus broke a medieval record set in the year 1226 with a new personal best of 603 meters. He now shot an arrow exactly 653 meters, which was a new world record. Talk about some serious flight time!

Hungarian Crown Guards

The Hungarian Holy Crown and crown jewellery is now guarded by the Hungarian military. In May of 2011, the special Crown Guard unit of the Hungarian military took over responsibility of protecting and serving as guard of honour next to the Holy Crown. In previous years, the Holy Crown and jewellery was protected by and under the jurisdiction of the Hungarian police.

Remember the victims

Please light a candle and remember the European victims of communism

Memorial Day

August the 23rd is the European Memorial Day of the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes
(Also known as International Black Ribbon Day)

Today we pause to remember the victims of totalitarian regimes in Europe during the 20th century

This day is also significant because it acknowledges the crimes committed by communists against Europeans

There were no previous days of remembrance for the victims of communism in Europe

Memorable Quote

"The nation of the Hungarians loved and admired Budapest, which became its polluter in the last years. Here, on the banks of the Danube, I arraign her. This city has disowned her thousand years of tradition, she has dragged the Holy Crown and the national colours in the dust, she has clothed herself in red rags. The finest of the nation she threw into dungeons or drove into exile. She laid in ruin our property and wasted our wealth. Yet the nearer we approached to this city, the more rapidly did the ice in our hearts melt. We are now ready to forgive her."

Admiral Miklós Horthy 1919, upon liberating Budapest from communists.

Budapest: From a tour guide

This video features a little information about Hungary's capital, Budapest. This lovely tour guide fills us in on some facts and some of the history of this beautiful capital city. There are dozens of tour companies that operate in Budapest. A visitor to the capital has several choices in how to tour the city. There are bus tours, boat tours of the Danube and even walking tours of the city (Buda & Pest). The most popular spots in the city to visit are Vaci utca, Buda Castle District, Hungarian Parliament Building, Heroes Square and the various thermal baths located throughout the city.

Memorial day for victims

Hungary will host the European Memorial Day of the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes on August 23rd.

Hungary will be hosting the European Memorial Day of the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes. The memorial day was established to remember the victims of Nazism and communism in Europe during the 20th century. The Memorial Day came into being in the wake of a joint Hungarian-Lithuanian-Polish initiative. These countries suffered greatly under both of these extremist ideologies in the last century. The Justice Ministers of the EU Member States approved the Council conclusions commemorating the victims of crimes committed by totalitarian regimes at a conference held in Luxembourg, in June 2011.

Red terror continues...

Supporters of the old communist regime are still active in Hungary today

The terror and the hate by the extreme left-wing in Hungary doesn't seem to be slowing down. In recent months, statues and plaques dedicated to various patriotic and nationalist Hungarian figures have been vandalized by members of the extreme left. Usually under the cover of night, these cowards have defaced and vandalized memorials dedicated to Hungarians who have sought in their lifetimes to the preservation of the Hungarian nation and culture.

Saint Stephen's Day

Szent István was the first king of Hungary (reign 1001-1038)

Today, August the 20th, is a significant national holiday in Hungary. It is one of the most important holidays on the Hungarian calender. Szent István or also known as Saint Stephen I in English, was the first king of Hungary.  He created the Kingdom of Hungary and brought Christianity to the people of his kingdom. Today's holiday is significant because it celebrates and commemorates the foundation of the Hungarian state. The holiday is named in honour of our first king, Szent István. He is one of the most significant Hungarians in our history.

Looking eastwards

The popularity of the Kurultaj Festival in recent years has shown that Hungarians are becoming increasingly interested in their ancient cultural roots. The festival brings together the modern day peoples of the Hun-Turkic-Hungarian peoples. Hungarians are now also looking eastwards for new friends and alliances.

Globalist bankers arrested

The recent global economic downturn a few years ago, showed the public how corrupt and greedy the globalist bankers were. Iceland was one of the countries that took stern action against the globalist bankers in their own country. Many other bankers were arrested in other countries. The bankers wanted to make enormous amounts of money to invest in the global banking scene. They messed up big time and then dragged the populations of many countries down with them. The arrests of the bankers have shown them that they can't get away with their illegal activities without punishment.

What they're saying...

Just a few words that are being said about Hungary's fantastic performance at the London 2012 Olympics:

"With eight gold, four silver and five bronze medals, Hungary took 9th place in the final official medals table for the 2012 London Olympics. This is the first time since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics that Hungary has come in the top ten."

-Kormany.hu (Hungarian government)

"The Hungarian Team finished in a very distinguished 9th place in the medal count. Securing 17 medals including 8 golds was an extraordinary performance considering the size of the country, and indeed Hungary was the most successful country overall in the kayak and canoe competition."

-British Embassy, Budapest

"This is the first time since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics that Hungary has come in the top ten. Taking population size into account, Hungary was the most successful nation in Europe."

-Budapest Sun

"Some have called Hungary's 2012 Olympic performance a "miracle," but in reality, the miracle has been Hungary's historic performance since 1896. As seen below, Hungary's 17 medals and incredible 8th ranking in total Gold in London is exemplary of where Hungary has been for the last century!"

-American Hungarian Federation

"After political turmoil and economic debates at home and abroad, Hungary has made global headlines for all the right reasons: beating every expectation, the Hungarian national team closed the 2012 London Olympic Games with an outstanding result and finished ninth in the overall medal rankings."

-Wall Street Journal

Baga-tur Stunt Crew

The Baga-tur Stunt Crew is a Bulgarian stunt group that does live shows in honour of the ancient Bulgarians. Both the ancient Bulgarians and Magyars (Hungarians) were closely related to the Huns. They both claimed that the famous figure Atilla the Hun was their ancestor. This technically means that Bulgarians and Hungarians are modern day cousins.

New Zealand criticise Hungary

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key recently criticised Hungarian forces serving in Afghanistan. Two New Zealand soldiers were killed and six others were injured in an engagement with Taliban rebels recently. The rebels entered the New Zealand controlled territory from the neighbouring Baghlan province where Hungary's provincial reconstruction team is based. “As far as I’m aware, the Hungarians don’t go out at night. Not in Afghanistan anyway – they might in Budapest,” Key said.

Welcome home!

The Hungarian Olympic Team athletes are welcomed back home by adoring Hungarian supporters! Many turned out at the Syma Sports Centre in Budapest to welcome the Hungarian Olympic athletes back from the London 2012 Summer Games. Many turned out with flags and banners to welcome their heroes home. Many supporters got to meet their sports heroes up close and personal even getting autographs from them as well. Good job! You've made Hungary very proud. We can't wait for the next Summer Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.

Video: Kurultaj photo show

The YouTube video above shows more of the sights from the Kurultaj festival. The festival was a huge success as tens of thousands of people attended all weekend. The festival celebrates the culture and history of the Hun-Turkic-Hungarian peoples. There were several displays at the festival as well as vendors selling merchandise. From the pictures in the video you can see how large the festival really is. With the festival barely over, left-wing media outlets in Europe have already been attacking the festival. They have been trying to make a connection between the Kurultaj festival with fascism and extremism in Hungary.

KURULTAJ: Traditional festival

The Kurultuj traditional festival started last Friday and ended on Sunday. It is one of Europe's largest cultural events. It celebrates the culture and history of the Hun-Turkic-Hungarian peoples. The Hungarians, or also known as Magyars, were an eastern people that migrated from regions near Mongolia in the far east over 1,000 years ago. They travelled all the way to Europe and finally settled in Transylvania (modern day Romania) and the Carpathian Basin (modern Hungary). After settling, they would adopt the European lifestyle and become Christians dropping their pagan lifestyle and beliefs.

The Hungarian Olympic Team won a total of eight gold, four silver and five bronze medals at the London Olympics.

Humour: Red Flag

To start off the week, let's have a bit of humour and comedy. This YouTube video is from the Just for Laughs comedy television show. They do pranks on unsuspecting members of the public and then record them to see their reactions. I saw this "red flag" prank they did a while ago and it was very funny. It's all the more reason never to pick up a red flag while in public. Watch the video, the reactions are pretty funny.

Hungary still proud!

Volume warning: please turn your volume down for video

Hungary's men's Olympic water polo team lost to Italy in the quarter finals 11-9. The team played an excellent match but the Italians threw in an excellent long distance shot in the dying minutes of the game to score their 11th point. The Hungarian team lost their first 2 matches but managed to win the last two before meeting Italy. A few members of the current team were veterans from the previous 3 gold medal winning teams for Hungary.

GOLDEN boys!

Hungarian athletes Rudolf Dombi and Roland Kökény won the gold in the men's kayak double (K2) 1000m final. They took the lead at the 750m mark and managed to hold on to win the even. Good job guys! Hungary is proud of you!

GOLDEN girls!

Hungary won their second kayak gold of the Olympic Games on Wednesday when the women's team took the K4 500m sprint title. (Kovács Katalin, Szabó Gabriella, Kozák Danuta and Fazekas-Zur Krisztina).

Eva Risztov of Hungary won gold in the women's Olympic open water race at Hyde Park. The race was a grueling 10 kilometer race. Risztov touched the finish four-tenths of a second just before an American competitor. The winning time was 1 hour, 57 minutes, 38.2 seconds.

Hungary's Danuta Kozak won gold in the women's K1 500m.

Hungarian women did very well this week on the water in various events. Gold medals were won by Hungarian women in swimming and kayaking. Hungary is very proud of our GOLDEN girls!

Attacked by "tolerance"

Those that profess to be the most "tolerant" can actually be the most intolerant. This video is a perfect example of this and highlights it very well. The left-wing often professes to be tolerant and open minded, but if your view differs with their own, they can be pretty nasty with you. In the democratic system, we all have the right to our own beliefs and opinions. Not everyone will agree with what other people have to say. Regardless of whether you disagree with someone else, it doesn't give you the right to assault or silence them.

Nationalists protest against crime

This past weekend, members from various Hungarian nationalist organizations took part in a protest in the small town of Devecser. Devecser was effected by the toxic red sludge disaster in 2010 as the whole town had to be evacuated. Members of the New Hungarian Guard (Új Magyar Gárda), Jobbik political party, Sixty Four County Youth Movement (HVIM) and the Betyársereg were all present at the protest in Devecser.

Military camp for youth

Youth military camp in Hungary promotes learning, responsibility and pride.

Recently, a new camp opened for Hungarian youth near the city of Zalaegerszeg. It is a "patriotism camp" (Hazaszeretet Tábor), where about 50 local Hungarian youth will spend several weeks during the summer. The camp is open to both boys and girls. The camp's program consists mostly of cultural heritage activities that show the youth their rich Hungarian culture, tradition and history. There are workshops that the youth get to participate in.

Dániel Gyurta on winning gold

“I DEDICATE THIS GOLD MEDAL TO ALL MY 15 MILLION COMPATRIOTS!”

Dániel Gyurta, Hungarian Olympic Gold Medalist

By making this statement, Dániel dedicated his gold medal to Hungarians all around the world. It is estimated that there are 15 million Hungarians worldwide living in many different countries. Hungary only has a population of about 10 million. It is estimated that there are around 5 million ethnic Hungarians that live outside of Hungary. This was a very nice dedication by Dániel Gyurta.

Remembering Stalin's purges

When Stalin came to power, he eliminated all political opposition to him. Many of those eliminated were Communist Party officials and members that he thought could be a threat to him. Apparently, within the communist camp, there were many interpretations of communism. Stalin believed that there should only be one communist superstate such as the Soviet Union. Others that disagreed with Stalin believed that communism should be spread to the whole world (worldwide).

Declassified: Joseph Stalin (Video)

Editor's Note: The video is 45 minutes long, but well worth the watch.

This is an excellent video from History Channel's Declassified series on Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Joseph Stalin was a tyrant and the worst mass murderer in human history. The interesting thing is that Stalin was an ethnic Georgian and not a Russian. He was among the inner circle of the Bolshevik revolutionaries who brought about the Russian Revolution in 1917. Stalin was a loyal ally of Lenin up until Lenin's death in 1924. Stalin was active as a leader far longer than Adolf Hitler was, for this, he ended up killing far more people than Hitler did. The world is now beginning to realize and discover this most recent indisputable fact.

Hungary now have 4 gold medals in the Olympic competition so far (2 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze). Gyurta, the reigning world champion, went 2 minutes, 7.28 seconds at the Aquatics Centre on Wednesday night to win the gold. He beat the British hopeful Michael Jamieson of Great Britain (2:07.43) and Ryo Tateishi of Japan (2:08.29). Good going Daniel!
