Ah, the glory days of Hungarian football. I was a little too young to remember this but it stands out as one of Hungary's greatest football moments. Hungary beat El Salvador 10-1 in the 1982 World Cup. It's good to watch this video once and a while as it shows when Hungary was a very dominant force in international football. The Hungarian national football team was a very dominant force in international football from the 1930s till the mid-1980s. After the fall of communism in 1989, Hungarian football seemed to collapse as our appearance on the international stage dwindled. Hungary has barely qualified for any international football competition since 1990. The last time Hungary was in a world cup was in Mexico 1986, in which it preformed poorly. Like many Hungarians, I still have hope that Hungarian soccer will once again become a dominant force in international football. Hajrá magyarok!
