"The order of democratic values should be protected and all extremist and discriminating manifestations stifled."
Hungarian Minister of the Interior Sandor Pinter's comment about combating extremism and racism in Hungary. (October 19, 2012)
The Hungarian government has shown that it is committed to combating extremism and racism in the country. Sandor Pinter's comment is clearly geared towards the rise of right-wing extremism in Hungary and rightly so. However, it must also apply to the growth of left-wing extremism as well. There are those on the Hungarian far-left that hold anti-Christian and anti-Hungarian views. We must remember that communism killed tens of millions of Christians in Europe during the 20th century. In order to be successful, the government and the people of Hungary must not tolerate both forms of political extremism. The double standard must be removed!
