Here is the second video to that American tour guide's walking tour of downtown Budapest. It gives you a good idea of the buildings and architectural style of the city. The video shows you how much effort is going into giving the down core a face lift to make it more attractive. If you were in Budapest 20 years ago, it wouldn't have looked as nice as this. Decades of neglect by the communist authorities left the city buildings looking very plain. Many buildings were shabby, run down and very grey with no colour in the communist-era. It was only after the regime change in 1990, that you see the city begin to renovate the downtown core to its former splendour.
