Funny Hungarian police

I'm not exactly sure when this video was filmed but judging by the quality of the video and the music of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, this was probably filmed in the early or mid 1990s. These two Hungarian police officers decided to have a bit of fun and dance to the Marky Mark song "Good Vibrations". Hungarian police usually have a bad reputation with the general public. This is due to the old communist system when people feared the authorities. My grandmother would literally pick up her pace if there was a police officer in the streets near her. There was a great distrust and fear of communist-era police in the country.

The police in Hungary since the regime change in 1990 have changed. However, they still have a negative image with Hungarians as there have been many cases of corruption and abuse of power within various police forces. Pay rates in the Hungarian police forces is mediocre compared to Western European standards. Though the pay rates have risen in the last two decades, they still have a long way to go before they can catch up with their western counterparts. Not to say that all the police are bad. Just like the two officers in the video, there are many "good" officers who protect the public and enforce the law in Hungary. Unfortunately, it just takes a few bad apples to taint the whole barrel.
