Roger Helmer is a Eurosceptic who believes that the EU will eventually follow the same path as the Soviet Union. One common aspect is that they both disregarded the aspirations and the identity of the people. The EU will either disappear all together or be radically different than it is today. If we look at all the major empires that existed in European history, eventually all of them disappeared either peacefully or through force. It is only a matter of time before the EU follows this path. The Greek crisis shows how one small member state can have such as huge impact on the whole system. I believe that the architects of the EU miscalculated when they thought that they could incorporate various countries with such vastly different cultures, economies and political systems into one entity. The EU is a nice concept, but in all reality, is not very realistic.
